Our verdict

ShareX is a screenshot tool first. It captures regions, windows, monitors, scrolling pages, video and GIFs from hotkeys, then saves, copies or uploads the result to the destination you set up and copies the link. It is free, open source, has no ads and needs no account.

As a video recorder it is basic. There is no webcam overlay, and editing is limited to a trimmer for the start and end. It also only runs on Windows.

For longer recordings with a webcam and scenes, use OBS Studio. If you want a share link without setting up your own storage, try ScreenRec.
